Kayak
touring is about going from point A to point B under your own power.
Traveling long distances along a shore line, or making a crossing
from one island to the next. Wide open expanses of water, big waves,
and high winds are all possible. Sea kayaks are long slender boats.
Some are very unstable requiring some time to get used to. They
are designed to handle very large waves, and landings in crashing
surf. You can get as serious as you want in sea kayaking. Boats
come in a variety of constructions and an even larger variety of
prices. You can expect to pay anywhere from $1200 to $1600 for a
plastic sea kayak. A step up to a lighter stiffer boat made out
of fibreglass is a step up to about $2500. A very high end Kevlar
Sea Kayak is upwards of $3000. Used boats can be had for a very
wide variety of prices.
Necky produces a full
line of touring kayaks. From Rotomolded plastic to the highest
quality kevlar kayaks.
