Recreational
kayaks bring the awesome expierience and feel of kayaking to anyone.
For those who want to paddle calm bodies of water, go fishing, or
to observe the world around you from a different perspective. These
boats a stable enough for anyone. Control is intuitive and you can
master paddling one in a matter of minutes. They are slower then
sea kayaks, harder to turn then whitewaer kayaks, but far easier
to paddle then either. They give you the ability to paddle in a
great variety of conditions making a recreational kayak an inexpensive
starting point if you don't know exactly what kind of kayaking you'll
want to do most.
A well designed recreational
kayak is a stable platform to get started in kayaking. It is most
at home on calm water but is very capable of easy whitewater and
can handle day trips near shore on larger more wavy bodies of
water.
This type of kayaking
spans the gap between unstable sea kayaks and relatively low performance
recreational kayaks. They are stable enough for most anyone to
be comfertable, paddle slightly faster, and track much straighter
then a recreational boat. These boats allow you to learn essential
techniques that are not possible in a true recreational kayak.
Short overnight trips are possible. Five to eight miles can be
covered in a full day of paddling.
