Wilderness Touring Wilderness tripping canoes tend to be long for speed and efficiency, stable with or without a load, deep for keeping waves out of the canoe, and lightweight for those half-mile portages in the Boundary Waters. The Bell Northwind, Northwoods, and the Alaskan are great tripping boats. From Bluewater, look at the Chippewa, and the Explorer.
