David Blodgett

-Bio: First serious paddling with the Boy Scouts at Camp Gardener Dam on the Wolf River. Attended whitewater Camp in Wausau WI for two years. Have Paddled extensively in Northern WI, and in the Ottawa river valley on the Quebec Ontario border, Montana, Idaho, Oregon, Washington, Tennessee, North Carolina, and several other places to a lesser extent.

-I'm a dedicated freestyle whitewater kayaker. You may not be familiar with this style of kayaking, but if you can imagine a combination of wakeboarding, surfing, and kayaking you are pretty close to freestyle whitewater kayaking. As forgiving as a sport can be, when kayakers mess up, they roll over and do it again. No crashes, just splashes.

-I have done extensive reading and experimentation with boat design and boat building. By building several boats using plywood and fiberglass, I have taught myself to do extensive fiberglass repair work, as well as how to design and put together a small wooden boat.

-I am also the web designer for this very web page. If you see anything you like or anything you'd like to see change, feel free to write me an email.

-This season I've switched from my Air 55 to a bigger more versatile boat called the Air 60. The outfitting, as some people have found out, is a little sub-par in that it is too thin in the hip area. I have an article on how to fix this at this link.

-Terminal Surfer is a hole that's known as a "keeper." Its also one of the most fun wave holes around. Trashy enough to not give anything away, shallow enough to break boats, but most anything is possible. Midwestern Whitewater at its best. This is just above the summer minimum flow.

Spring '04 Big Water in the Midwest
The black river is just off of interstate 94 on the way to minneapolis. This is the first river to break up in the spring. In this short it is running around 8400 cfs. Super pushy for the midwest. There were small pieces of ice everywhere.
