Selecting a quality line of canoes to offer in our shop, we look for several things. Function and quality design are number one. A boat made of the best materials in a poor design, is much worse than one built of poor materials in a good design. Workmanship is also extremely important to us. Over 30 years ago, Mad River Canoe began life in a woodshed on Jim Henry's property in Waitsfield, Vermont. Jim won the 1971 Whitewater Canoe National Championship in their first canoe, the Malecite. Since then, Mad River Canoes have been all over the planet; down Arctic Rivers, across the border country, through the wildest whitewater, and on duck ponds in every paddler's backyard. We are proud to have them at our shop.
